This is an example of a Ranger tab in a triple mat window design. The ranger tab is attached to the bottom mat with acid-free adhesive. An etched black mat is the top mat surrounding the window. A yellow mat is the second mat, sitting on the mat securing the ranger patch. Collectively, the top mat and the middle mat rise above the ranger tab. This creates a window. This design also serves to add depth to the design. This is a very popular way to frame objects inside a guidon display.
