This is a 7” x 5” Aviation Guidon for a 4th Battalion, 3rd Aviation Regiment customer. This miniature aviation guidon is another example of a guidon furnished by a customer for us to frame. In this case, the customer expressed his intention to incorporate a photo into a design that commemorated a sense of appreciation for aviation unit’s recipient. The customer wanted the 7” x 5” cotton fabric aviation guidon framed with a photo, challenge coins, and a custom nameplate. This was easily accomplished by first placing the photograph at the top of the frame. Beneath the photograph is the miniature 7” x 5” aviation guidon. Below the guidon is a custom nameplate, expressing gratitude to an officer in the unit. On each side of the nameplate are unit challenge coins. The design for this framed guidon is further enhanced by the use of an etched black top mat and a red bottom mat. A patriotic sense of balance is accomplished by using the open V-groove to provide red and white supplemental colors. The open V groove further defines the photograph, the guidon, and the objects by surrounding them by providing symmetry. This color combination is balanced against the blue color in the guidon and the red middle mat and white bevel cuts. A wood black frame with silver edging completes the frame design.
