Flag Display Case Example – Flag Flown On A combat Sortie
This is an example of a custom flag case that contains a flag flown during a combat sortie aboard an A-10C Warthog during Operation Enduring Freedom, flown out of Kandahar Airbase, Afghanistan. The design for this custom frame includes the folded flag placed at the top of the frame. The flag measures approximately 3’ x 5’ in size. In it is placed inside of a 13.375” x 5.625” window opening. Under the flag, is a certificate, citing the date and the mission number. The design for this flag display case includes double mats. The top is a Navy blue silken mat. The bottom mat is a red paper mat. An open V-groove surrounds the frame and the certificate beneath it. The red, bottom mat is revealed in this open V-groove and provides striking contrast that enhances the design. A wood rectangular, black matte finish frame surrounds the mats and completes the design. The use of black frames is only one of many options available for framing flags flown in combat.
