The design for this military shadow box begins with a Blackhawk in a photo at the top of the shadow box. An opening that forms the center of the frame contains campaign medals, crossed wrenches, 3rd ID insignia, and aviation wings. The three objects placed at the bottom include a pair of 4th Battalion, 3rd Aviation Regiment unit patches and a custom engraved nameplate. The items in this military shadow box were triple matted. An etched black top mat and an etched black bottom mat create striking contrast around the wrenches and medals. The red middle mat serves to provide definition around the bevel openings for the objects inside the shadow box. A standard V groove surrounds the objects in the frame.
