Cavalry Guidon – 6th Squadron 8th Cavalry Regiment Custom Framed

Cavalry Guidon – 6th Squadron 8th Cavalry Regiment Custom Framed

This is an example of a custom embroidered 20” x 15” Cavalry guidon framed in a shadow box. The custom cavalry guidon in this version features crossed cavalry sabers. The design used for this cavalry guidon frame includes a cavalry belt buckle and cavalry spurs at the top. A special mat cut accommodates the cavalry spurs. The 6th Squadron, 8th Cavalry Regiment Guidon is positioned beneath the spurs and buckle. Under the guidon are two awards for the “Gold Cavalry Spurs” citing the military campaigns for which the awards were earned. Beneath the awards is a custom nameplate that commemorates the dates of service corresponding with the awards. The cavalry guidon and cavalry memorabilia are framed using double mats. The top mat is black. It provides the appearance of a rich, leathery, textured finish. The bottom mat is a red suede mat. The red, white, and black color scheme forms an intense color combination. This brings the guidon, the documents, and the objects into a heightened state of visibility for display purposes. An open V-groove forms a perimeter around the guidon, the documents, and the objects inside the frame. Surrounding the open V-groove is a black wood frame. The frame has champagne-tone wood fillet aligned beside the frame’s interior edge. Covering the frame and its contents is Museum Glass®, which provides exceptional light transmission and the highest level of UV protective shielding. As custom framers, we often frame guidons with a number of objects that represent a significant event in a soldier’s/officer’s career.
