This is an example of a custom framed Transportation Guidon. The transportation guidon was flown by the 1230th Transportation Company. The guidon was presented to us for framing with a number of military mementos. We formulated a design for this guidon that includes a rank pin, insignia, patches, and a custom nameplate. The transportation guidon and the accompanying military memorabilia were framed using triple acid-free/conservation grade mats. The top and bottom mats are etched black. The middle mat is a deep red that matches the un-faded areas of the guidon. Two openings for rank pin and for a unit insignia were placed in the guidon’s swallowtail area. Beneath the guidon are five openings. The center opening contains a custom commemorative nameplate. The openings on each side of the nameplate contain patches and insignia. The red mat bevels surrounding the guidon and the object openings contrast very well against the black etched top and bottom mats. Complementing this color scheme is the open V-groove that surrounds the guidon and the military memorabilia. The opening in the open V-groove reveals the red middle mat. The red color exposure facilitates an even greater color contrast and color separation between the objects and the frame itself. The frame used for this project is a rectangular wood black matte finish frame with silver edging. This regulation size Transportation Guidon frame design represents a slight modification from the standard Transportation Guidon packages we offer in our e-commerce section.
